ESC holds safeguarding at the heart of its organization as such membership of ESC is subject to each school providing a child protection policy. The safeguarding policies and procedures of each school will be stored centrally.
All ESC member schools must report suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect whenever there is reasonable cause to believe that a child has suffered, or is at significant risk of suffering abuse or neglect. Reporting and follow up of all suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect will proceed through the ESC Executive in accordance with any administrative regulations in place at the member school. Furthermore, cases of suspected child abuse or neglect may be reported to the appropriate employer, to the appropriate Embassy, to the appropriate child protection agency in the home country, and/or to local authorities.
All ESC member schools will make every effort to implement hiring practices to ensure the safety of children, and will review the policy annually for compliance and effectiveness.
